Opportunity Overview
EL Shama Cares Foundation welcomes volunteers and placement students from diverse academic backgrounds who are passionate about making a difference. This opportunity provides hands, on experience in youth mentorship, community outreach, program facilitation, and case support, while developing essential skills in the human services field.
Volunteers and students will work alongside experienced staff and community mentors, gaining exposure to program planning, facilitation, and data reporting within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support the coordination and delivery of youth mentorship and empowerment programs.
-
Assist in planning and facilitating workshops, events, and group sessions.
-
Engage youth participants through outreach, mentorship, and supportive listening.
-
Help collect and organize program data and feedback for evaluation purposes.
-
Participate in staff meetings, debriefings, and training sessions.
-
Support social media engagement, awareness campaigns, and resource promotion.
-
Represent EL Shama Cares Foundation professionally during community activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
-
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in social sciences, human services, or related fields.
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Access to a reliable vehicle or consistent transportation is required.
-
Must be able to commit to a minimum of 8 hours per week for at least one academic term or semester.

Current Vulnerable Sector Screening or willingness to complete one prior to placement.

Understanding of confidentiality, ethical practice, and professional boundaries.

Program Coordinator – Youth Mentorship & Empowerment

Position Overview
The Program Coordinator will play a vital leadership role in the delivery and growth of EL Shama Cares Foundation’s Youth Mentorship Program and related empowerment initiatives. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator will oversee program planning, staff supervision, partnership development, and evaluation processes. This individual will work closely with program staff, mentors, and community stakeholders to ensure that each aspect of the program aligns with our mission, goals, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Coordination

Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of all Youth Mentorship and Empowerment programs.

Supervise program staff, interns, and volunteers, providing mentorship, feedback, and professional development support.

Coordinate day-to-day operations, ensuring program delivery meets established timelines and goals.
-
Develop and maintain detailed program work plans, budgets, and activity schedules.
-
Community Engagement & Partnerships
-
Build and sustain collaborative partnerships with schools, community organizations, and service providers.
-
Represent EL Shama Cares Foundation at community meetings, events, and youth-focused networks.
-
Lead outreach strategies to engage youth participants and recruit volunteer mentors.
-
Monitoring & Evaluation
-
Collect, analyze, and interpret program data for reporting, evaluation, and funding purposes.
-
Ensure documentation, service statistics, and reports are completed accurately and on time.
-
Support the development of impact measurement tools that capture both quantitative and qualitative outcomes.

Communications & Promotion
-
Oversee social media and marketing activities related to program visibility and engagement.
-
Develop promotional materials and contribute to storytelling efforts that highlight youth success and program impact.

Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure consistent brand and messaging alignment.
Skills & Qualifications
-
Degree or diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Child and Youth Care, or a related discipline.
-
Minimum 3–5 years of experience coordinating community-based or youth development programs.
-
Proven leadership skills, including staff supervision and team-building.
-
Strong knowledge of youth engagement models, mentorship frameworks, and violence prevention strategies.
-
Experience managing program budgets and preparing reports for funders.
-
Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
-
Data collection and evaluation experience, with the ability to use digital tools for monitoring outcomes.
-
Culturally competent, trauma-informed, and sensitive to the needs of marginalized or underrepresented youth populations.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
-
Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Screening required.
-
Fluency in French or other languages is an asset.
Work Schedule
Availability: Monday to Friday, with Two evenings and one afternoon per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) and occasional Saturdays.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Youth Mentorship Program Worker to join our growing team. The successful candidate will support EL Shama Cares Foundation’s commitment to youth empowerment, violence prevention, and mentorship engagement. This role involves direct work with youth and adult mentors, program coordination, community outreach, and data management to ensure meaningful, measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities

Participate in the planning, coordination, and delivery of all Youth Mentorship workshops, events, and initiatives.

Conduct intake interviews, background checks, and onboarding processes for mentors and mentees.

Support ongoing mentorship matches through regular monitoring, engagement, and feedback collection.

Work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator to facilitate group mentorship initiatives.

Assist in developing, updating, and implementing program guidelines and training materials.

Collect, analyze, and report quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate program effectiveness.

Contribute to social media engagement and outreach strategies that promote youth participation.

Prepare reports, program summaries, and impact assessments in accordance with funding requirements.

Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and program review activities as assigned.

Foster inclusive, safe, and empowering spaces for diverse youth and community partners.
Skills and Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Work, Social Services, Community Development, or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with youth aged 12–25 in mentorship, leadership, or empowerment programs.

Strong understanding of youth engagement and mentorship principles.

Proficient in data tracking, program evaluation, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Experience facilitating groups, workshops, or community-based youth activities.

Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity when working with diverse populations.

Are you an organized, financially savvy professional who’s passionate about making a difference? We’re looking for a Finance & Office Administrator to oversee payroll, accounting, and office operations in a purpose driven, community centered organization that supports vulnerable and at-risk youth.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, from processing payroll and reconciling accounts to supporting donor reports and keeping the office running smoothly. You’ll be joining a small but mighty team dedicated to creating lasting impact in the lives of youth and families across Edmonton.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Payroll Administration

Process bi-weekly payroll for staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

Maintain employee records and process new hires, changes, and terminations in payroll systems
-
Manage Accounts Receivable, prepare invoices, record payments, and follow up on outstanding balances
-
Manage Accounts Payable, enter, code, and reconcile vendor invoices
-
Support financial reporting, monthly reconciliations, and assist in preparing year-end documentation for auditors and funders

Maintain and update financial tracking tools in Excel or accounting software (QuickBooks, Payworks, or similar)
Office & Administrative Support

Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and Program Coordinator

Track program budgets, donor and grant expenses, and generate financial summaries for funding reports

Assist in coordinating meetings, staff schedules, and maintaining office supplies and records

Support HR and onboarding processes for new employees and volunteers

Maintain a positive and efficient office environment aligned with the organization’s mission and values
Skills and Qualifications

Education & Experience:

2+ years of experience in finance, payroll, or office administration (non-profit experience an asset)
