Our Vision

Who We Are

Welcome to EL Shama CARES, a dedicated Christian-based organization focused on providing FREE social services for youth.

Our values are grounded in faith as we serve EVERYONE without pushing an agenda.  Our mission is to empower Black and immigrant youth in the Edmonton region, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to thrive.

We offer our programs and services free of charge, driven by our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity for all individuals. At EL Shama CARES, we believe in the transformative power of community and strive to help those we serve transcend the challenges of marginalization.

Our focus on mentorship and self-development plays a crucial in promoting improved school attendance, reducing dropout rates, and increasing high school graduation rates.

Additionally, work diligently to boost college admissions and enhance the social status of BIPOC families, fostering a brighter future for all.

Land Acknowledgement

El Shama Cares Foundation acknowledges with deep respect that we live, work, and serve on Treaty 6 Territory, the traditional and ancestral lands of many First Nations, including the Cree, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Blackfoot, and Dene peoples, as well as the Métis Nation of Alberta.

We honour the enduring presence of Indigenous peoples on this land, past, present, and future, and we recognize their ongoing contributions to our communities and our collective well-being.

As an organization dedicated to healing, empowerment, and care, we acknowledge that true reconciliation begins with listening, learning, and building authentic relationships rooted in respect and understanding.

We commit ourselves to walking alongside Indigenous communities in the spirit of partnership, fostering pathways of equity, healing, and shared responsibility for the generations to come.
